Everything politics should be swarming like bees, in an election year. However, the year of 2020 has handed us a wild card, Covid 19, better known as the Corona virus. Instead of every news outlet talking about candidates, election platforms and electability, we are inundated with news of a fast spreading and sometimes fatal respiratory virus. It definitely makes us pause, realize we are not super human, and puts things into perspective. what is really important?
Political debates have been cancelled. Rallies are no more, at least for the time being. My how the world has changed, almost overnight. One thing however, that seems to be a constant is the lefts hatred and bashing of our president. It never seems to get old for them. I really think its their favorite pastime. Truly, pathetic.
This, is a time for unity. Coming together to fight, to comfort one another, to educate, and co operate in the struggle to find a cure. To help our family, friends, and neighbors learn how to live our lives in a new way. Sequestered, and isolated from the life we used to live. So, where in all of this can we find solace? What is the lesson we can learn from this?
Perhaps, what is really important. Is it a stimulus bill to aide all that have found themselves out of work. To help the small business that have had to close their doors? What about our heath care providers? Working around the clock to provide care and comfort. Every individual that is part of an “essential business” that go to work everyday risking contracting the virus themselves. Unsung heroes, just doing their jobs, so we at some point can get back to the life we have had to put on hold. When will this end ???
Hope. It’s a wonderful word. Let’s not loose our hope right now. Remember our prayers, for our country for each other. Hold our loved ones near, and keep our fear under our feet. This virus, this Covid 19 will not end us. It will not define us, it will however, change us. Kindness, compassion, comfort and humor will get us through this. Just look at all the silly tic tock videos!
So, politics aside just for a moment, this is definitely a time to reflect. And, in true American style we will persevere, stay strong and come out of this better than we were. Because, a virus that has sent us all into hibernation, putting walls between us, separating us, cutting us off from the pleasures and privileges of living in a free and democratic society, has actually bonded us. We are closer then we have ever been. And, we will win ! God Bless, stay safe and keep your head up! For tomorrow is another day….
